We believe that we can save more lifes

Anjana Ghosh Memorial Social Welfare Trust (AGMSWT) is more than just an organization; it is a testament to the power of compassion, resilience, and community-driven change. Since our humble beginnings in 2008, we have been on a transformative journey, dedicated to uplifting the marginalized and creating a ripple effect of positive change across West Bengal.

The Spark That Ignited the Flame

Our story begins with Mr. Ranjit Ghosh, a man whose life was a living example of selflessness and dedication. Known affectionately as "Master Mashai" in his native village of Horkhali, Mr. Ghosh spent over two decades providing free tuition to thousands of students after his office hours. His retirement marked not the end of his service, but the beginning of a new chapter. With a heart full of compassion and a vision for a better future, he dedicated his life to the socio-economic development of the marginalized communities in Sutahata Block, Purba Medinipur District.

The First Steps: Empowering Women

Mr. Ghosh’s first initiative was to empower women through Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Using his retirement savings, he provided small loans to women, helping them start income-generating activities. But his support didn’t stop at financial aid. He spent countless hours mentoring these women, ensuring the loans were used effectively and repaid on time. In a society where women’s education and independence were often overlooked, his efforts faced resistance. Yet, his unwavering determination and the tangible success stories of women breaking free from poverty gradually won over the community.

A Movement Takes Shape

What started as a one-man mission soon grew into a movement. Inspired by Mr. Ghosh’s vision, a group of dedicated volunteers joined hands to expand the scope of AGMSWT’s work. Together, they initiated community health programs to combat malnutrition, diarrhea, and other preventable diseases. They promoted education for children and women, breaking the cycle of illiteracy. They introduced income-generation activities and environmental sanitation programs, transforming not just lives but entire communities.

The Turning Point: 2015 and Beyond

The year 2015 marked a turning point in AGMSWT’s journey. Recognizing the need for a more structured approach to scale their impact, the trust formed a small but passionate team of young professionals. These individuals, driven by the same spirit of service, brought fresh energy and innovative ideas to the organization.

With this new team, AGMSWT expanded its reach beyond Sutahata and Haldia Blocks to 100 community blocks across 11 districts of West Bengal. The organization’s growth was not just in numbers but in the depth of its impact. From health and family welfare to tribal development, from women’s empowerment to child welfare, AGMSWT’s programs touched every aspect of community life.

A Legacy of Transformation

Today, AGMSWT stands as a beacon of hope, having served over 18 lakh beneficiaries through 7 flagship projects. Each project is a testament to the trust’s commitment to creating sustainable change. From the dusty lanes of Sutahata to the remote corners of West Bengal, AGMSWT’s work has touched lives, inspired communities, and built a legacy of transformation.

The Heart of AGMSWT

At the core of AGMSWT’s success is the unwavering dedication of its founders, volunteers, and team members. Their passion, resilience, and belief in the power of community have been the driving force behind every initiative. Every life transformed, every community uplifted, and every success story is a reflection of their tireless efforts.

AGMSWT’s journey is a reminder that change begins with a single step, a single act of kindness. It is a story of how one man’s vision grew into a movement that continues to inspire and transform lives every day.
