Arogya Sagaram

A Health Project promoting NCD Prevention and Management among Fishermen in the Changing Sundarbans

The Arogya Sagaram project, an upcoming healthcare initiative by Anjana Ghosh Memorial Social Welfare Trust (AGMSWT), aimed at addressing the pressing health challenges of fishing communities in the Sundarbans. These communities suffer from geographical isolation, limited access to healthcare, high prevalence of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), occupational hazards, and inadequate vision and oral healthcare services.

The project seeks funding of INR 2,99,16,500 to implement comprehensive mobile healthcare services, including free medical camps, NCD screenings, occupational health interventions, eye and dental check-ups, and community-based health education programs across eight remote blocks in the Sundarbans for 36 months implementation timeframe.

By ensuring timely healthcare interventions, preventive care, and referrals, the project will enhance health outcomes, reduce disease burdens, and improve the overall well-being of these vulnerable communities.
